Announcing the Nachman Justice Award
When I began building the Swipe Out Hunger national team, I knew I had to hire someone capable of growing a small idea into a nationwide movement– and friends, I got just that and so much more in our former Vice President of Programs, Marissa Nachman (pictured right at our 2019 Swipe Student Summit above).
Marissa recently wrapped up her role at Swipe Out Hunger after scaling our network from 16 to 130 campuses and supporting students every step of the way. Though her 4+ years on staff has come to an end, her commitment to students continues.
In honor of Marissa’s unwavering dedication, I’m thrilled to announce the inaugural Nachman Justice Award, which recognizes select student leaders each year for their work advancing campus food security efforts. Swipe Out Hunger student leaders who embody Marissa’s values of justice, compassion, and equity can apply to receive a $1,000 grant to support their studies.
Marissa taught me about perseverance, the power of data, and that as long as we push forward, the moral arc of the universe bends towards justice. I’m forever grateful for Marissa’s leadership and look forward to cheering her on in her next chapter!
Join me in honoring her legacy by supporting the Nachman Justice Award fund.
