Three Ways to Get Involved with Swipe Out Hunger this Fall
The start of the academic year can be an exciting time for students, professors, and campus staff! The energy of going back to school often motivates many to find new opportunities and activities on and off campus. If you’re interested in getting involved in food security work, Swipe Out Hunger has plenty of opportunities to get involved! Whether you’re a student looking for leadership experience or a campus staff member seeking extra support, here are three ways you can get involved with our network:
1. Apply for our Student Leadership and Advisory Council
Interested in growing your leadership skills while supporting our mission of ending college student hunger? Students can apply to be a member of our Student Leadership and Advisory Council (SLAAC)! Launched last year, SLAAC is a cohort of student leaders who exchange ideas and share their voices to inform Swipe Out Hunger’s initiatives while gaining skills to advance their professional development. Current students can apply today until August 23, 2024.
2. Apply for our Leadership Council
Are you a campus staff member working on food security programs on your campus? We encourage you to join our Leadership Council, a cohort of food security leaders from colleges across the country! Also launched last year, the Leadership Council meets regularly to develop innovative hunger solutions, advocate for policy change, and build community with other campus leaders. Current campus staff can apply today until August 30, 2024.
3. Join our Swipe Out Hunger Community Slack Channel
We know that fighting hunger on campus can be challenging, but we are here to support you! Our new Swipe Out Hunger Community Slack channel is a space for students and staff involved in food security work to stay updated on the latest resources and opportunities from Swipe, connect with other campus leaders, ask questions or seek out advice, and more. We invite you to join our Swipe Community Slack today.
