Implementing Innovative Food Security Programs with Everytable
Taking an innovative approach to addressing college student hunger can leave a lasting impact! That’s why we’re excited to highlight our friends at Everytable, a food service organization partnering with colleges and universities to launch custom programs to make fresh, nutritious food accessible to everyone.
Everytable’s mission to transform the food system is changing lives with food service partnerships and grab-and-go storefronts across Los Angeles, Orange County, San Diego, and New York City. In Spring of 2020, Santa Monica College — a Swipe Out Hunger campus partner — developed a unique food security program with Everytable that meets their campus needs. Together, they created “Santa Monica College x Everytable’s Home Delivery,” which increases access to healthy meals for remote students in addition to stocking their food pantries with Everytable grab-and-go meals for on-campus students.
This collaboration with Everytable has fostered a real impact. The home delivery initiative alone feeds up to 1,000 students on a regular basis. Not only that, this program has made a lasting, positive change in the lives of students by helping them focus on their educational goals. “This service has TRULY made such a difference in my life,” said a student at Santa Monica College. “I was food insecure before school became remote, now with loss of income, I am even more so. But Everytable meals have not only helped me make ends meet, but with delicious, healthy meals … the delivery is a huge help since I don’t have a car.”
We understand that every campus has its unique challenges and opportunities, so we are proud to share what Everytable offers and the opportunity to work together to find a program that meets campuses and students where they’re at. Other models with Everytable include employment opportunities for students, vending machines, and initiatives that provide surplus meals.
