Swipe Out Hunger and Ellucian Collaborate for Student Success

June 5, 2023 – Swipe Out Hunger, the leading nonprofit addressing student hunger, and Ellucian, the leading higher education technology solutions provider, are partnering to end college student food insecurity. Across 2022 and 2023, Ellucian and its employees generated more than $58,000 in contributions for Swipe Out Hunger and helped to raise awareness of student hunger with hundreds of higher education institutions. 

In fall 2022, Ellucian’s Ubuntu Employee Resource group, which is dedicated to impacting change and elevating Black voices, launched an employee giving campaign to support students’ basic needs with the initial goal of raising $20,000. As support for the campaign grew, Ubuntu surpassed its goal, raising a total of $58,000 through employee giving and corporate gifts.

Swipe Out Hunger staff and student leaders joined Ellucian Live, the company’s annual customer conference, in New Orleans in March 2023. Speaking before representatives of hundreds of campuses from across the globe, Swipe Out Hunger shared how it works with colleges to improve access to food and to ultimately ensure students are set up for success. 

“It is clear how passionate Ellucian and their higher education network are about the issue of ending student hunger,” said Jaime Hansen, Executive Director of Swipe Out Hunger. “Connecting with hundreds of campuses and engaging a global audience about our mission was invaluable. We are touched by Ellucian’s generosity and devotion to ensuring no student has to go hungry while pursuing their education.”
