Swipe Out Hunger Announces New Executive Director Jaime Hansen
July 18, 2022 – Today, Swipe Out Hunger announced its new Executive Director, Jaime Hansen (she/they), will lead the organization in its promising next chapter. As Executive Director, Hansen will manage the overall organizational vision and strategy and support the programs, advocacy, communications, operations, and development departments in achieving their goals.
“Being chosen to lead a pioneering organization like Swipe Out Hunger is such an exciting opportunity, especially in the wake of a brilliant and passionate leader like Rachel Sumekh, ” said Hansen. “I am honored to work with a strong and energetic team and look forward to contributing to their dedication to end hunger on campuses across the country. Swipe Out Hunger has many measures of success and with the strategies the board and team has set, we will continue to build a world where no student has to choose between food and their education.”
With more than 20 years working on the ground and as a leader at the intersection of food, advocacy and higher education, Hansen has achieved stability and mission-driven successes within national, state, and multi-county agencies. They also bring strong familiarity with the higher education industry as Adjunct Instructor at Boise State University, where they teach a graduate level nonprofit management course. Previously, Hansen was the Director of Programs and Partnerships at the Idaho Food Bank and Executive Director of the Family Advocate Program, a multi-service organization that aims to strengthen families and keep kids safe by empowering everyday people to protect and enrich the lives of youth.
Earlier this year, Swipe Out Hunger’s Founder and CEO Rachel Sumekh shared her plans to transition away from her role as CEO, simultaneously launching its search for a new Executive Director. Guided by their Transition Committee and Board of Directors, Hansen was selected to continue Sumekh’s impressive legacy of ending college student hunger.
“Passing the baton to Swipe Out Hunger’s new Executive Director Jaime Hansen is an incredible honor” said Sumekh. “After years of exponential growth, Jaime’s experience, passion, and leadership will position Swipe Out Hunger to put an end to what we all know is a solvable issue: student hunger.”
Sumekh and Hansen are working closely together to ensure a smooth transition. Sumekh’s last day will be July 29, 2022 and Hansen’s first day will be August 1, 2022.
