These new Board members come to the organization with unique expertise and knowledge to support Swipe Out Hunger in an exciting new chapter following an extensive strategic planning process.
“We are thrilled to welcome Ashray and Sean to our Board of Directors,” said David Croom, Swipe Out Hunger’s Board Chair. “Their impressive backgrounds and alignment with the organization’s current and future goals will be invaluable in advancing Swipe Out Hunger’s mission and vision.”
Join Swipe Out Hunger in welcoming its newest Board of Directors members:
Ashray Reddy is passionate about driving innovation and positive change in the food and beverage industry. His expertise is in food and beverage brand and product strategy. He currently serves as the Senior Brand Manager at Hatcheri Foods, leading the brand strategy for Sukhi’s Gourmet Indian Foods. Previously, Reddy held similar roles with brands such as Finless Foods, Starbucks, Nestle, and Chameleon Cold Brew. He also co-founded MeaningFull Meals, a nonprofit aimed at fighting food insecurity. Reddy holds an M.B.A. from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Boston University. He lives in San Francisco with his wife, Maya.
Sean Tierney is a Director of Research and Policy at the Institute for Higher Education Policy (IHEP). Prior to joining IHEP, Tierney was an Associate Commissioner at the Indiana Commission for Higher Education where he oversaw the postsecondary portion of Indiana’s state longitudinal data system, managed a research portfolio focused on student access and outcomes, and helped create, implement, and assess statewide policies and programs. Previously, Tierney held roles at Lumina Foundation, the Maryland Higher Education Commission, and the Tennessee Higher Education Commission. He earned a B.A. with majors in economics, English, and sociology and an M.P.P. with a higher education concentration, both from Vanderbilt University. Tierney is motivated by the belief that higher education is one of the best ways to advance our nation’s promise of opportunity – but that greater transparency, high-quality research, and policy reforms are needed to ensure those opportunities are available to all. In his spare time, he enjoys running, hiking, and home renovation projects.
Additionally, Sanjay Reddy and Ben Woo are transitioning off of Swipe Out Hunger’s Board of Directors. Sanjay Reddy served on the Board for six years, dedicating his business and startup experience to the organization’s growth. He also served as chair of the Emerging Opportunities committee, which guided Swipe’s eventual acquisition of the College and University Food Bank Alliance (CUFBA). Woo served as Board Chair, Secretary, and Audit Chair during his nearly 14 year tenure on the Board of Directors, supporting Swipe Out Hunger’s strategy and sustainability. Woo provided his expertise to Swipe’s initial strategic plan and focus, and leaves his mark on our new strategic vision to be released later this summer. Swipe Out Hunger is grateful for the many years that Reddy and Woo committed to the organization and its mission to end college student hunger.
