ROLE DESCRIPTION
The Community Engagement Coordinator will support student leaders, campus administrators, and community partners to strengthen food access programs on higher education campuses. This role will focus on coordinating partnerships, providing resources, and ensuring smooth communication between stakeholders. The Coordinator will work remotely and report to the Community Engagement team, playing a key role in supporting day-to-day logistics, partner engagement, and program delivery.
Responsibilities and Tasks:
- Community Engagement & Coordination
- Build a state-level engagement and communication plan that enhances the voice and goals of student leaders, campus staff, administrators, and other anti-hunger champions.
- Work in collaboration with the Advocacy & Programs teams to build and implement plans.
- Track partner needs and connect them to relevant resources and opportunities.
- Assist with organizing and hosting virtual and in-person events such as partner meetings, trainings, and workshops.
- Coordinate logistics for campus visits, including scheduling, materials preparation, and follow-up.
- Assist in building and sustaining relationships with corporate and community partners to secure in-kind donations and other resources for the network.
- Maintain accurate records of partner engagement, activities, and outcomes.
- Build a state-level engagement and communication plan that enhances the voice and goals of student leaders, campus staff, administrators, and other anti-hunger champions.
- Communications & Materials
- Create and update resources for partners such as toolkits, guides, and event materials.
- Draft content for newsletters, email updates, and social media in collaboration with the Communications team.
- Assist with collecting stories and feedback from students and partners for use in organizational communications.
- Operations & Administration
- Provide scheduling, note-taking, and follow-up support for internal and partner meetings.
- Help maintain and improve systems for partner communication and program tracking.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
The following qualifications are representative of the high level of demonstrated skills, maturity, judgment and ability to work with a wide range of constituencies required of Swipe Out Hunger employees:
- 3+ years of experience in hunger relief, poverty solutions, nonprofit program support, or a related field.
- Strong project coordination skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Comfortable building relationships with diverse stakeholders, including students, funders, and community organizations.
- Highly organized with strong follow through.
- Proactive problem solver who can adapt to changing needs.
- Commitment to equity and the mission of Swipe Out Hunger.
- A strong strategic and creative thinker and collaborator with excellent organizational skills.
- Able to use discretion and exercise sound judgment.
- Comfort with communicating externally with funders.
- Strong relationships within Texas community and higher education preferred.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
This is a full-time, exempt position with a salary of $65,000, commensurate with experience. Swipe Out Hunger provides a supportive benefits package, including 100% coverage for employees. This includes medical, dental, and vision benefits, 401K retirement matching after 6 months tenure, flex time, a $500/year professional development stipend, and during your first year in your role, $400 towards a ‘Work Comfortably from Home’ fund.

Part 1: Video Screener Application: The hiring manager will select candidates to submit a questions video screener to support their application.
Part 2: Virtual Interviews via Zoom with Hiring Manager: Virtual interviews will be with the hiring manager. We will share specific details as the interview day approaches. Writing examples may be requested.
Part 3: Follow-up Interview with members of the Swipe Out Hunger staff: We will invite finalist candidates to a focused follow-up conversation to dig deeper into specific themes and topics from the virtual interview day and writing sample.
Part 4: Reference Checks, Offer Extended: Swipe Out Hunger will ask for 3-4 references per finalist, though we often ask for more. We encourage finalists to ask more questions about working at Swipe Out Hunger.
